Protein tracking in Zero happens automatically through our meal logging feature. When you log meals, Zero calculates your daily protein intake and shows your progress toward your protein goal. Your protein and other nutrients are fully editable if you want to make changes.
Log a Meal Using a Photo
You can log a meal by taking a photo of it and the protein, calories and other nutrient data will automatically update for that entry. These details are also editable.
To log a meal via photo:
- On the Today tab, tap Add to your day
- Tap Add a Meal and snap a photo of your meal and/or drinks
Zero estimates protein, calories, and other nutritional data. You can edit any of these values by tapping directly on the value itself. Your daily protein and protein score total update automatically.
This is the fastest option for most meals and works well for mixed or complex dishes.
Log a Meal Using Text
You can also log meals by typing/describing what you ate. Feel free to include as many details as possible.
To log a meal via text:
- On the Today tab, tap Add to your day
- Instead of taking a photo, tap into the text box and you'll see the keyboard appear
- Enter a quick description, or provide a lengthy, detailed meal description and Zero takes care of the rest!
Zero estimates protein, calories, and other nutritional data. You can edit any of these values by tapping directly on the value itself. Your daily protein and protein score total update automatically.
Log a Meal Using Quick Picks
Zero saves your most frequently logged meals and ingredients as Quick Picks, making repeat logging even easier.
With Quick Picks, you can:
- Re-log common meals in just a tap or two
- Spend less time typing or taking photos
- Stay consistent even on busy days
To log a meal via Quick Pick:
- On the Today tab, tap Add to your day

Log a Meal Using Saved Meals
Similar to Quick Picks, you have the ability to save logged meals to be able to log them quickly in the future. Simply tap the bookmark icon at the top of the logged meal review screen to save in your saved meals library. To log saved meals, log a meal and tap the bookmark icon in the text box.

On iPhone, you can log a meal even faster by using the long-press app shortcut.
