We get a lot of questions about the Night Eating feature and how it works. This article outlines the feature, and how to use it.
What is Night Eating?
Simply put, Night Eating, when tracked in Zero, records any amount of time you are in your eating window (the time between a fast's end and the next fast's start) at night based on your local sunrise/sunset time. The goal here is to highlight Circadian fasting and to encourage fasting during nighttime hours and eating during daylight hours.
How is Night Eating Calculated?
Night Eating time is accrued any time you initiate a fast after Sunset.
So, for instance, if you start a 13 hour Circadian fast at 2 hours past your local sunset time (based on enabling Location Settings on your iPhone), you would record 2 hours of Night Eating.
Conversely, if you start a 13-hour Circadian fast an hour before your local sunset time and end it at the goal time the next morning, you will record 0 hours of Night Eating.
In order for night eating hours to display in the post-fast summary, remember turn on your device's location access setting for Zero.
Start a 13-Hour Circadian Fast:
- When this fasting type is selected, it will automatically track your Night Eating in your fasting summary in the field titled "Night Eating".
- You will also see how far from Sunset you are just below the Goal time on the Today tab's timer.
- It is crucial to enable Location Services in your device settings to get accurate Sunset times.
